The Yolk Pages

The Yolk Pages is a free directory of people who breed chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, quail, guinea fowl and peafowl. It covers New Zealand, Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States, and lists breeders by breed and by the region and town where they keep their birds.

It exists because poultry groups get the same question every week: "Does anyone sell Silkies near Hamilton?" The answers scroll away, and until now there was nowhere to look it up.

If you're looking for birds

- Browse the map. Each region is shaded by how many breeders it has. Pick a breed and the whole map redraws to show only that breed. Tap a region to see its towns.

- Or go straight to a page. Every breed in every region has its own page, such as "Silkie breeders in Waikato".

- See what each breeder sells: hatching eggs, day-olds, chicks, growers, point-of-lay, adult birds, trios or breeding pairs.

- See when birds are available: now, by waiting list, or seasonally ("Silkies from September").

- See health details when the breeder has given them: Marek's and AE vaccination and MG/MS testing. Listings also show club memberships and whether the breeder posts hatching eggs.

- Know the listing is current. Every listing shows the date the breeder last confirmed they're still breeding, and the most recently confirmed appear first.

- Get in touch through a simple form. The breeder replies to you by email.

If you breed poultry

- Listing is free and takes about three minutes on a phone.

- There's no password. You sign in with a link sent to your email.

- Pick your breeds from a list, say what you sell and when, and add up to eight photos.

- Change your availability with one tap.

- If your breed isn't on the list, request it and it will be added properly.

Your address stays yours

- The site shows your region and town. It never shows your street address, email address or phone number.

- It doesn't store breeders' map locations at all. The map only goes down to town level, so there's nothing to leak.

- Hidden location data is removed from photos before they're stored.

- Rare bird theft is real. Keeping addresses off a public website is why many breeders are willing to be listed at all.

Listings that stay current

- Breeders get an occasional "still breeding?" email, and one tap confirms.

- Reminders follow the seasons. Nobody is chased during their own winter: June and July in New Zealand and Australia, December and January in the UK and US.

- A listing that has been quiet for about four months is greyed out and moved to the bottom, so it doesn't look current when it isn't.

Free, permanently

There are no fees for buyers or breeders, no paid upgrades and nothing behind a login. No cookies are set unless you sign in, so there's no cookie banner either. The Yolk Pages is a directory of breeders, not a marketplace, so it has no payments, no reviews and no ads for single birds.
